Tapped-In iPad: iCookbook

App uses voice commands to help you cook.

There are loads of cooking apps, which makes the iPad a great kitchen companion-- that is if you don’t mind getting it greasy! However, iCookbook lets you work hands-free through the use of voice commands! Here’s how it works:

iCookbook comes pre-loaded with over 2000 recipes! As if that weren’t enough, you can purchase additional cookbooks right within the app! Each cost between 1 and 3 bucks.
What’s nice is that you can add filters to your search, like dish, ingredient, theme, cuisine, occasion and more, making it easy to find specific recipes.

Each recipe has detailed instructions, including how much time you’ll need and level of difficulty. You can even add your own notes and ratings. When you’re ready to start cooking, tap the “prepare” button. The app then breaks the recipe down into easy-to-follow steps.  But what’s really cool is that there’s a voice command feature! If your hands are messy, just speak a command, like “Next”...  and the app will automatically go to the next step! No need to worry about cross-contamination or getting cake batter all over your precious iPad! There are also commands for timers and notes.

iCookbook is packed with other useful tools like conversions, ingredient substitutions, a shopping list, timers and how-to videos!

Overall, iCookbook is a fantastic app! For $4.99, it’s also available for your iPhone. If you’re a foodie with an iPad... meet your new best friend!  Bon Apetit!
